Words To Breathe By

There are just those days.

Those days that where you feel like your heart is dragging on the floor. Hope is just an idea.

Some of us have more of these days than others. If you follow my other blog, you may know that I have had many in my past. I will undoubtedly deal with many in my future. I so often need words of wisdom on these days. Truths that I can repeat over and over to myself, meditate on, and help me to pick up my falling heart.

I found this phrase on the bottom of a mug I bought my mom for Christmas… Words To Breathe By.

I love it. Love, love, love. It’s genius. I have previously called these thoughts and words Mantras, but for me that really isn’t the right word either. It’s certainly applicable, but the Hindu and Buddhist relation makes it a little less fitting. Especially as many of my “Mantras” include Jesus and the Bible. I previously called my Pinterest board “Mantras To Live By”

Words To Breathe By.

Better. Words are so powerful.

Those individually meaningless letters that form words. Words strung together that can form a tiny seed of calmness in my soul. Breathe. The seed grows. Everything is going to be OK. Breathe. Emotions are fickle. Just because you feel something doesn’t mean you need to act on it. Breathe. I am blessed. I am seriously, radically blessed, even though I can hardly grasp that thought in this moment.

Ok, let me give you my first example.

Now read it again. This time, breathe with it.

Let whatever you do today be enough. It’s enough!!

The PB&J I fed my boys for dinner was enough.

The total of 4 things I put away in my messy bedroom was enough.

The 3 hours of work I put in was enough.

The 30 minute workout I did this morning was enough. {Actually I don’t need to convince myself of that one, PX903 is no joke}

My time spent in devotions was enough.

My children’s basic physical and emotional needs are met. I am doing enough.

I am enough.

See now? Did you put your own truths into those statements? And don’t you feel better?

You can work you own inner magic, I tell ya. As Joyce always says, “You can choose your own thoughts; you don’t have to just think whatever falls in your head.” Man, I love her.

Stay tuned. I feel an ongoing blog series coming on…

“Lift your head a little higher,
Spread the love like fire,
Hope will fall like rain,
When you speak life with the words you say.

Raise your thoughts a little higher,
Use your words to inspire,
Joy will fall like rain,
When you speak life with the things you say.”
